Zaheer Alam, lyricist of ‘Tum To Thare Pardesi Saath Kya Nibhaoge’ passes away, wave of mourning in the music world
Tezzbuzz Desk – A very sad news has come out from the music industry. Zaheer Alam, the lyricist of the 90s superhit song ‘Tum To Thare Pardesi Saath Kya Nibhaoge’, is no more. He died on May 11 in Nagpur, after which there has been a wave of mourning among music lovers.
This is the same song which once made the entire country crazy with its emotional lyrics. Altaf Raja lent his voice to this song, and his pain-filled singing made it immortal. In the 90s, this song was on the lips of every street, every locality and every music lover.
Zaheer Alam lived in a simple house in Mominpura area of Nagpur. Although the songs written by him became very popular across the country, his personal life was full of struggles and financial constraints. With time he disappeared from the public eye and became largely anonymous even at the local level.
It is said that ‘Tum To Thare Pardesi’ started as a local qawwali. Later, when Altaf Raja lent his voice to it, this song got recorded and became popular across the country. This song gave a new identity to Altaf Raja and made the words of Zaheer Alam memorable forever.
The irony was that despite such huge success, Zaheer Alam did not get much financial benefit from this song. According to reports, he got only Rs 3,000 for this song. This thing still surprises people that the person who wrote such a big hit song could not get proper respect for his hard work.
Zaheer Alam also worked in a textile mill in his life. His life was relatively stable at that time, but after the closure of the mill he faced financial problems. After this his life became surrounded by struggles.
