Big blow to Delhi Capitals even after victory, Akshar Patel fined Rs 12 lakh

Dharamshala: Delhi Capitals captain Axar Patel has been fined Rs 12 lakh for maintaining a slow over-rate during his team’s win against Punjab Kings in the Indian Premier League (IPL). With the help of half-centuries from Akshar and David Miller, Delhi Capitals kept their faint hopes of reaching the playoffs alive by defeating Punjab Kings by three wickets in this match.

“Delhi Capitals captain Axar Patel has been fined for maintaining a slow over-rate during their Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 match against Punjab Kings at the Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association Stadium, Dharamshala,” according to an IPL release.

It further said, “This was his team’s first offense of the season under Article 2.22 of the IPL Code of Conduct related to slow over rate, hence a fine of Rs 12 lakh was imposed on Akshar Patel.” The Delhi team is currently ranked seventh in the points table. Their next match will be against Rajasthan Royals in New Delhi on Sunday.
