Effigy of Chief Minister burnt in Jehanabad in protest against Patna lathi charge, student organizations come out in support of unemployed youth

In protest against the alleged lathi charge on unemployed youth in Patna, workers of CPI(ML), Inquilabi Naujawan Sabha and AISA staged a strong protest by burning the effigy of the Chief Minister at Kako Mor in Jehanabad. The protesters strongly condemned the action of Bihar Police and raised slogans against the government.
Leaders of the organizations said that the police brutally lathicharged the unemployed youth who were protesting peacefully in Patna demanding jobs. Many students and youth were injured in this action, while some suffered serious injuries. Girls participating in the protest were also alleged to have been assaulted.
The protesters alleged that the police have detained hundreds of youth and an FIR has been registered against more than 5000 unidentified people. The organizations termed this action as suppression of democratic rights and demanded strict action against the guilty policemen.
Addressing the meeting organized after burning the effigy, the leaders said that the BJP-JDU government has failed to provide employment to the youth and now the police is repressing the agitators. The leaders alleged that the government was trying to suppress the voice of the exploited and deprived classes.
Speakers in the meeting also targeted the government regarding the education system and employment policy. He said that due to reduction in seats in higher education, increase in fees and privatization of education, additional burden is being put on students from poor and deprived sections. Besides, allegations of creating communal atmosphere in the campus were also made.
The leaders said that due to lack of employment, the youth of Bihar are forced to work in other states, but there too they are facing insecurity and problems. He demanded to complete the TRE-4 teacher reinstatement process soon and give appointments.
