Delhi EV Policy 2.0 got tremendous support, 700 suggestions came in a month; Expected to be implemented by June
The draft EV Policy 2026 released by the Transport Department has received wide support from the public, industry and various institutions. The government has received around 700 suggestions on the Draft EV Policy 2.0 within a month. According to the information, the last date for sending suggestions on the draft policy was fixed as May 10. During this period, Delhi Government had invited suggestions through both online and offline mediums. Besides, consultation conferences were also organized with various stakeholders, so that the policy can be made more effective and practical.
According to official sources, if everything goes as per plan, EV Policy 2.0 can be implemented by June 2026. Of the suggestions received by the government, about 400 suggestions have come from the common people. These include vehicle owners, passengers, RWA representatives, students, delivery riders and gig workers. Apart from this, automobile companies, industries related to charging infrastructure and environmental organizations have also given their suggestions.
According to official information, about 200 suggestions have been received from the industry and people associated with the EV sector. These include charging point operators, battery swapping companies, power supply companies and fleet aggregators. Apart from this, more than 50 suggestions have been received from educational societies, NGOs, think tanks, research institutes, universities, environmental groups and trade associations. Around 400 suggestions have been received from common citizens, which included vehicle owners, students, RWAs, delivery riders and gig workers.
According to sources, the biggest concern has been expressed regarding the expenses related to batteries of electric vehicles. People have suggested that the cost of battery replacement can become quite high after a few years, so there should be a provision for relief or assistance on this. Apart from this, issues of battery recycling and providing adequate charging points have also been raised prominently. Schools and educational institutions have suggested the government to extend the deadline for EV conversion of school buses, so that the institutions get enough time to adopt the new system.

Delhi Transport Minister Dr. Pankaj Kumar Singh said that the overwhelming response received from citizens, industry, institutions and experts shows that Delhi is ready to adopt electric vehicles. He said, “Most of the stakeholders have supported many of the proposals, appreciating the visionary thinking of the government. Some important suggestions have also been received, which are being seriously considered. The suggestions which are found practical and useful will be included in the final EV policy.”
