VIDEO | ‘I focused on my basics’: Madhav Tiwari after DC’s dramatic win over Punjab
Delhi Capitals youngster Madhav Tiwari said keeping his nerves under control and sticking to the basics helped him deliver under pressure during DC’s thrilling win over Punjab Kings in Dharamsala.
Reflecting on his performance after the match, Madhav said he tried to stay calm and focus on the fundamentals of the game.
“I just wanted to control my nerves. Cricket is a game of bat and ball, so I focused on my basics and things turned out well for me,” he said.
The young all-rounder also spoke about his cricketing journey, revealing that he started playing the sport seriously at the age of 13 after changing schools and beginning with leather-ball cricket.
“I started playing cricket when I was 13. I even changed my school at that time. My coach then was Aamekh Khurasiya,” Madhav said.
He admitted that during his early years, he enjoyed batting much more and even wanted to become a specialist batter rather than a bowler.
“There were times when I wanted to become a batter because I loved batting. Bowling is tiring and takes a lot out of your body, while batting always felt easier to me. You can keep batting for long periods,” he added.
Madhav’s composed performance proved crucial as Delhi Capitals pulled off a dramatic chase against Punjab Kings to stay alive in the IPL 2026 playoff race.
