Adequate availability of LPG and petrol-diesel in Supaul

On Tuesday, District Magistrate Sawan Kumar held a review meeting with the sales officers and block supply officers of all the oil marketing companies regarding the availability of LPG and petroleum products in Supaul district. It was told in the meeting that there is no shortage of petroleum products and domestic LPG gas in the district and it is being supplied continuously as per the demand.
During the review, Nodal Officer LPG informed that there is a stock of about 13,405 gas cylinders available in 51 gas agencies of the district and there is a possibility of getting 4,055 additional cylinders. Gas cylinders were made available to 6,771 consumers on Monday, while currently booking of 23,368 consumers is pending. On an average, 5,532 domestic LPG cylinders are being distributed in the district every day.
The District Magistrate directed the officials to ensure adequate availability of petroleum products and gas in view of the wedding season. Besides, all Block Supply Officers were asked to keep a constant watch on petrol pumps, gas agencies and institutions using gas-oil. Instructions have been given for special monitoring of petrol pumps and gas agencies located in the areas bordering Nepal.
It was informed in the meeting that apart from marriage programmes, commercial LPG cylinders are also being supplied for Shraddha, Mundan, Upanayan and other socio-religious events. For this, the concerned cooks and caterers will have to get registered with the oil companies, which will be completed within 5 to 7 days. The person organizing the program will have to apply to the Sub-Divisional Officer with information about the number of cylinders required and the expected number of people.
The administration also clarified that five kg gas cylinders are being made available to students, migrant laborers and young professionals even without proof of address. At present, LPG is available in 48 out of 51 gas agencies in the district, while supply is likely to be available in the remaining three agencies soon.
So far, 11 gas agencies have been investigated and raids have been conducted on 14 hotels and establishments regarding the use of gas cylinders. So far, three FIRs have been registered in the district on charges of commercial use of domestic gas and black marketing.
The district administration said that commercial gas cylinders are being supplied to hospitals and government institutions on priority basis. Besides, surprise inspection of petrol pumps is also going on so that the supply of petrol and diesel remains normal.
