GT vs SRH: Fifth consecutive win for Gujarat Titans, made it to the playoffs by thrashing Hyderabad by 82 runs.

Ahmedabad. Thanks to the stormy performance of the fast bowlers, Gujarat Titans defeated Sunrisers Hyderabad by 82 runs on Tuesday, achieved their fifth consecutive win in the IPL and along with topping the points table, also made it to the playoffs. Despite this defeat, Hyderabad is at third place in the table with 14 points. Although Hyderabad restricted Gujarat Titans to 168 runs for five wickets, its own team was bundled out for 86 runs in 14.5 overs. SRH team faltered in the power play itself.

Kagiso Rabada and Mohammed Siraj took four wickets for SRH in the powerplay and the team never recovered from there. None of the SRH batsmen could play a big innings. Captain Pat Cummins was the batsman scoring the highest (19) runs for his team. Rabada and Holder took 3 wickets each while Prasidh Krishna got two wickets and Rashid Khan got one wicket. Sunrisers Hyderabad’s batting failed miserably while chasing the target of 169 runs, and were finally bundled out for just 86 runs in 14.5 overs.

The second innings got off to a bad start as Mohammed Siraj dismissed Travis Head without scoring in his first over, soon followed by Kagiso Rabada dismissing Abhishek Sharma and Ishan Kishan to leave SRH at 23/3. The middle order was no match for Gujarat’s relentless pace attack as Jason Holder and Prasidh Krishna dismissed the rest of the specialist batsmen, including the dangerous Heinrich Klaasen.

Despite captain Pat Cummins hitting a six and a four at the end, the innings came to an abrupt end when Rashid Khan took the last wicket by stumping, giving Gujarat Titans a massive 82-run win. Earlier, for Gujarat, opener Sai Sudarshan scored 61 runs and middle order batsman Washington Sundar scored 50 runs. Sudarshan hit five fours and two sixes in 44 balls while Sundar hit seven fours and one six in 33 balls.
Nishant Sandhu contributed 22 runs in 14 balls.

Captain Shubman Gill was out after scoring five runs and Jos Buttler after scoring seven runs. The team had lost two wickets for only 26 runs. Butler and captain Gill flopped and its effect was visible on the entire batting. Today the pitch was helpful for fast bowlers and due to this, captain Pat Cummins got only two overs of spin and restricted GT to 168. Gujarat Titans made a good comeback and put a fightable score on the board and then defended it. They played their slowest powerplay of the season, scoring just 34 runs and also lost the crucial wickets of Shubhman Gill and Jos Buttler.

However, Sai Sudarshan and Washington Sundar took over the innings by making a necessary partnership of 60 runs in 41 balls for the fourth wicket. Sudarshan made another brilliant fifty before being out, while Washington also made a small contribution to carry the momentum forward. He also completed his fifty in the 20th over. For SRH, Pat Cummins performed brilliantly with the ball, conceding just 20 runs and taking one wicket. Praful Hinge also had a brilliant spell, taking two wickets for just 17 runs in his three overs.
