Major terrorist attack in Pakistan, 8 soldiers killed in blast at security post
New Delhi: Terrorists carried out a major attack in the north-western area of Pakistan and targeted a security post. At least eight soldiers were killed in this attack, while 35 other soldiers are said to be injured. This attack on Thursday night has increased concerns about security in the entire area.
How did the attack happen?
According to initial information, the terrorists drove a vehicle filled with explosives inside the security camp and caused a massive blast and then started firing. This attack took place on an important security post located in Bajaur district, a hilly area bordering Afghanistan. In the pictures that surfaced after the incident, a large part of the camp appeared completely destroyed. Many buildings were reduced to debris, while in some parts the walls turned black due to the fire. The intensity of the explosion was so high that the surrounding area also shook.
According to a security official, the terrorists started the attack through drone technology. It was told that first the camp was monitored and targeted using quadcopters. After this, a car filled with explosives was driven into the camp at high speed, causing a huge explosion. Immediately after the blast, armed terrorists entered the camp and started firing indiscriminately. The encounter between security forces and terrorists continued for a long time.
What do the officials claim?
Officials claim that all the attackers were killed in retaliation. However, no official statement has been issued yet by the Pakistani Army regarding this attack. The post which was targeted was considered very important to prevent cross-border infiltration and terrorist activities.
In recent times, there has been a rise in terrorist incidents in Pakistan. Nearly 30 people have lost their lives in three major attacks in the last few days. After these incidents, tension between Pakistan and Afghanistan seems to be increasing again.
Pakistan has long been alleging that Afghanistan’s land is being used by terrorist organizations, while the Taliban has been continuously rejecting these allegations. The ever-increasing violence has created new concerns about regional security and stability.
