IPL: While only two teams have been out of the race to reach the playoffs in the 19th season of the Indian Premier League, after 59 league matches, not a single team has been able to officially qualify for the playoffs. Now the equation of reaching the playoffs has been further complicated by the team of Lucknow Super Giants in which the Rajasthan Royals team has benefited from their win by 7 wickets in the match against Chennai Super Kings, while the path to reach further for CSK is now looking very difficult.
CSK reached sixth position, Rajasthan reached 5th position.
If we look at the points table of IPL 2026 after the 59th league match, defending champion Royal Challengers Bangalore is at first and Gujarat Titans at second place, in which both the teams have a total of 16-16 points. At the third position is the team of Sunrisers Hyderabad with 14 points in 12 matches, while at the fourth position is the team of Punjab Kings with 13 points. Rajasthan Royals, who were at sixth position before the match between Lucknow and CSK, now have 12 points with six wins in 11 matches and have reached fifth position with a net run rate of 0.082. Whereas Chennai Super Kings is now at sixth position with 12 points after 6 wins and 6 losses in 12 matches and their net run rate is 0.027.
Delhi also still has a chance
If we talk about the last four positions in the points table, Lucknow Super Giants and Mumbai Indians are at 10th and 9th respectively, both of which have a total of 8 points each and are already out of the race to reach the playoffs. At number 7 is the team of Delhi Capitals, who have a total of 10 points with five wins in 12 matches and their net run rate is -0.993. In such a situation, Delhi Capitals still have hopes of reaching the playoffs. At the same time, it is now looking very difficult for Kolkata Knight Riders, who are at number 8, to reach the playoffs even though they are not officially out of this race yet. KKR currently has only 9 points in 11 matches and their net run rate is -0.198.
