This project has been named 2D Broadband Marine Seismic and Gravity Magnetic Data Acquisition, Processing and Interpretation. Under this project, a large area will be scanned in the depths of the sea. So that it can be known whether there are reserves of crude oil and gas beneath them or not. According to the channel, under the project, 45000 line kilometer survey will be done in Bengal-Purnia and Mahanadi basin area only. At the same time, there will be 43000 line kilometer survey in Andaman Basin, 43000 line kilometer survey in Krishna Godavari Basin and 30000 line kilometer survey in Kaveri Basin. This survey will be completed in the next 2 years.

Let us tell you that India buys 85 percent of its crude oil requirement from other countries. There are some crude oil wells in Bombay High in the Arabian Sea near Mumbai. Their production is decreasing with time. Crude oil has not been discovered yet in areas like Bay of Bengal, Bengal, Purnia. It is believed that there are large reserves of crude oil and gas under the ground in the Bay of Bengal and surrounding areas. If large reserves of crude oil and gas are found during survey in these areas, then India will have to import very less crude oil from abroad for the next several decades. Earlier, gas has been found in the southern region of the country.
