India’s big leap! Tata’s agreement with the world’s largest chip company, increased China-America tension?

Tata ASML Semiconductor MoU Sign: Taking a big step towards giving new impetus to semiconductor manufacturing in India, an important Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between Dutch company Advanced Semiconductor Material Lithography (ASML) and Tata Electronics. This agreement was signed in the presence of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Netherlands Prime Minister Rob Jetten.

Both leaders welcomed the partnership of Tata Electronics and ASML for India’s first front-end semiconductor fab to be set up in Dholera, Gujarat. ASML CEO Christophe Fouquet expressed happiness over the agreement and called it a historic pact.

He said that India’s progress in the semiconductor sector is bringing immense opportunities for the youth of the country and this sector will be further strengthened in the coming times.

Semiconductor becomes India’s priority: Christophe Fouquet

At the same time, Christophe Fouquet said that semiconductor has now become a clear priority for India and Tata is the company that is going to set up the country’s first semiconductor fabrication facility (Fab). He said that this project is very important. Through this MoU, we want to provide all possible support to Tata at the level of product, technology and expert human resources, so that they can get the best lithography solutions for the first fab.

FTA will be implemented soon

In the meeting, both the Prime Ministers also stressed the need for early implementation of the India-EU Free Trade Agreement (FTA). He said that this FTA will further strengthen India and the EU as reliable partners for open markets, inclusive growth and strong supply chains.

The meeting was also attended by CEOs of leading Dutch companies from sectors including energy, ports, health, agriculture, trade and technology. Industry representatives praised the reform agenda of the Government of India and shared their expansion plans in India.
