Kami Rita Sherpa in the Spring 2026 mountaineering season
The 55-year-old veteran Nepali mountaineer successfully reached the 8,848.86-metre peak at 10:12 am (Nepal time) during the Spring 2026 mountaineering season, Nepal’s tourism department said in a statement on Sunday. According to reports, the department said, “The climb was accomplished while leading an expedition organized by the 14 Peaks Expedition, based on information received from the department’s field office at Everest Base Camp.”

His closest competitor is Pasang Dawa Sherpa, who has reached the world’s highest peak 29 times. Both of them are competing to climb Everest the most.
