Fear of bomb again at Hyderabad airport, plane coming from Amsterdam received threat, passengers safe
New Delhi. High alert has been declared at Rajiv Gandhi International Airport (RGIA) in Shamshabad, Hyderabad today, Sunday, May 17. According to reports, this high alert has been issued after a bomb threat was received through email to a plane coming from Amsterdam, Netherlands. This is the third such threat sent targeting Hyderabad Airport in the last three days. The email received by security officials warned that the plane was carrying an unmanned bomb and that the explosion could occur at any time, long before reaching the destination. Despite serious threats, the affected aircraft landed safely at Hyderabad Airport after entering Indian airspace.

As soon as the plane reached the runway, it was immediately taken to a safe ‘Isolation Bay’ away from the main terminal. Following the safety rules, all the crew members and all its passengers have been evacuated safely. After this, teams of Central Industrial Security Force (CISF), local police and Bomb Disposal Squad are thoroughly searching and examining the entire aircraft, passengers’ luggage and cargo area.
This is the third time in the last four days that an international flight has received such a threat at Hyderabad Airport. Just before this, Lufthansa flight coming from Frankfurt and AirAsia flight coming from Malaysia had also received such threatening emails, which after investigation were proved to be fake (Hoax). However, security agencies and cyber cells are busy tracing the source (IP Address) of this email and identifying the person who sent it. Also, monitoring and surveillance have been significantly increased to ensure the safety of passengers and airport staff. Apart from this, screening of passengers and checking of luggage is being done in a very strict manner. Also, in collaboration with the Bomb Detection and Disposal Squad (BDDS), all the sensitive parts of the airport are being thoroughly searched.
