Keralam UDF Government Swearing-In Ceremony: VD Satheesan becomes the Chief Minister of Kerala, along with 20 MLAs also take oath as ministers, UDF rule begins

New Delhi. In Kerala, senior Congress leader VD Satheesan took oath as the new Chief Minister of the state. 20 other MLAs also took oath as ministers. Governor Rajendra Vishwanath Arlekar administered the oath of office and secrecy to all the MLAs, including Satheesan. The rule of the UDF government has started in Kerala from today with the oath taking of the Chief Minister and Ministers. According to Satheesan, this is happening after 60 years when the entire cabinet in Kerala is taking oath together. Many senior Congress leaders including Congress National President Mallikarjun Kharge, Rahul Gandhi, Sonia Gandhi were present in the swearing-in ceremony.

Among the MLAs who took oath as ministers today, two are women while two come from Scheduled Caste. In the state assembly election results declared on May 4, the Congress-led UDF won 102 seats while the ruling LDF won only 35 seats. With this victory of UDF, the last 10 years of LDF rule in Kerala came to an end.

Let us tell you that Congress had to struggle a lot to decide the Chief Minister of Kerala. In fact, many MLAs were demanding that Congress National General Secretary KC Venugopal be made the Chief Minister. Whereas the Congress organization was in favor of making VD Satheesan the CM. After several rounds of meetings, the Congress high command finally approved the name of VD Satheesan.
