Sonbhadra/Uttar Pradesh – An emergency meeting of lawyers was held on Monday in the auditorium of District Bar Association, Sonbhadra, located in Robertsganj court complex, in which the incident of brutal lathicharge by the police on lawyers in Lucknow was condemned. Along with this, a demand was made to conduct a high-level investigation into the incident and take action by registering an FIR against the culprits.
Former President of District Bar Association, Jagjivan Singh Advocate said that advocates are the backbone of the justice system. The manner in which the lawyers who were raising their voice democratically for their legitimate demands in Lucknow were brutally lathicharged is extremely shameful. This is not just an attack on lawyers but on the Constitution and the dignity of the judiciary. Every advocate of Sonbhadra is shocked and angry by this incident. We strongly condemn this.
Former Senior Vice President PK Singh Advocate said that a high-level investigation should be conducted into the incident of brutal lathicharge by the police on lawyers in Lucknow, and necessary action should be taken by registering an FIR against the culprits.
Vice President Santosh Kumar Yadav Advocate said that this action of the police is dictatorial and undemocratic. The government should take immediate cognizance and suspend the guilty policemen and the officers who gave the orders and file an FIR against them. Also, arrangements should be made for proper medical treatment of the injured advocates.
The meeting was presided over by former President Jagjivan Singh Advocate and conducted by former General Secretary Pradeep Kumar Maurya Advocate.
On this occasion, prominent advocates Rajesh Kumar Yadav, Pawan Kumar Singh, Riyaz Khan, Vineet Srivastava, Ramgulli Yadav, Titu Kumar Gupta, Shahnawaz Alam Khan, Kamta Prasad Yadav, Adarsh Dev Pandey, Suresh Singh Kushwaha, Naveen Pandey, Vineeta, Chandrakala Giri, Saraswati Devi etc. were present.
