New Delhi. There is growing concern in Pakistan regarding India’s increasing military and missile capability. After the recent missile tests conducted by India in the Bay of Bengal, Pakistan’s strategic affairs think tank has advised its government to remain alert. Pakistan believes that India is rapidly strengthening its modern missile and defense capability, which can impact the strategic situation of the entire South Asian region.
Increased attention on India’s missile program
Pakistan’s Islamabad-based Institute of Strategic Studies has expressed concern over India’s recent missile tests. The think tank says that India is continuously working rapidly on long-range missiles, sea-based nuclear capability and modern weapon systems. Pakistan is particularly concerned about Agni-5 and submarine-launched missile systems.

India has long maintained that its defense policy is based on ‘credible minimum deterrence’. India says missile testing and development of modern military technology is part of the country’s security needs. According to defense experts, India is developing modern defense systems to strengthen its borders and maritime security, so that it can respond effectively to any potential threat.

In the last few years, the Bay of Bengal has emerged as a major missile testing area for India. Many advanced missiles have been tested here due to the presence of testing facilities in the coastal areas of Odisha and Andhra Pradesh. India has in recent years worked rapidly on the Agni series, BrahMos cruise missile, hypersonic technology and long-range anti-ship missiles.

China is also continuously keeping an eye on India’s increasing defense capability. India’s activeness and modern military preparedness in the Indian Ocean and Indo-Pacific region is being considered important from the perspective of regional balance of power. In fact, under the leadership of Defense Research and Development Organization (DRDO), India has worked on many advanced defense projects in the last few years. The government’s focus is on the development of self-reliant defense system and modern technology.
