India weather update: Severe heat wave in North India, monsoon arrives in South

The weather pattern across the country remains quite challenging. In the states of North and Central India, the sun is fierce and the outbreak of heat wave is increasing. The Meteorological Department has issued a yellow alert for Delhi till May 22, where the maximum temperature is expected to reach 44 degrees Celsius. In cities like Sriganganagar and Bikaner of Rajasthan, the mercury has crossed 46 degrees, causing a feeling of scorching heat. The administration has advised people not to leave their homes in the afternoon and take special care of their health.

At the same time, a relief news is also coming from South India. Monsoon has hit many parts of the Bay of Bengal and Andaman Sea. According to the Meteorological Department, monsoon may reach Kerala around May 26. Due to its effect, warning of heavy rain has been issued in many areas of Kerala, Karnataka and Tamil Nadu. There is also an alert of heavy rain and lightning in Assam and Meghalaya of North-East India. Thus, the country is currently standing between the dual effects of scorching heat and early monsoon showers.
