Sanjay Manjrekar’s big statement on MS Dhoni, said- “Now I don’t care

There was a lot of talk about Chennai Super Kings captain MS Dhoni being included in the playing 11 against Sunrisers Hyderabad on Monday, as it was the team’s last match of the season in Chepauk.

Sports News: Former cricketer Sanjay Manjrekar’s statement regarding MS Dhoni, one of the biggest names in the history of Indian cricket and IPL, has once again sparked a new debate in the cricket world. Manjrekar clearly said that now it does not matter to him whether Dhoni plays or not, due to which different reactions are being seen among the fans and cricket analysts.

Dhoni’s absence and farewell discussion

Recently, in an important match of Chennai Super Kings (CSK) which was played against Sunrisers Hyderabad in Chepauk, MS Dhoni was not a part of the playing eleven. There were earlier speculations regarding this match that it could be their possible farewell match, as it was the last home match in Chepauk this season.

However, there was disappointment among the fans due to Dhoni not coming on the field. There has been a discussion going on for a long time whether he is playing his last phase in IPL or not.

Sanjay Manjrekar’s big statement

Former Indian cricketer and commentator Sanjay Manjrekar gave his frank opinion on this entire issue. He said that now he is not interested in whether MS Dhoni plays or not. Manjrekar said:

“To be honest, the short answer is that I don’t care. I don’t care whether he plays or not.”

He further said that Chennai Super Kings (CSK) did not handle Dhoni’s brand and his legacy properly.

Dhoni’s legacy and Manjrekar’s opinion

However, Manjrekar also expressed respect for MS Dhoni’s career. He said that Dhoni is one of the greatest captains of Indian cricket and the contribution he has made to the country will always be remembered. He said that he remembers the Dhoni who led the Indian team and CSK at their peak.

According to him, currently Dhoni is not as effective a player as before. Manjrekar also said that if the same “peak Dhoni” was still with the team today, Chennai Super Kings could have easily made it to the playoffs. Currently, the performance of Chennai Super Kings has been mixed. The team is at sixth place in the points table and remains in the race for the playoffs, although the situation has become quite difficult.

On the other hand, Royal Challengers Bangalore, Gujarat Titans and Sunrisers Hyderabad have already officially qualified for the playoffs. In such a situation, the path ahead for CSK is being considered quite challenging.
