Fire alert in flight before landing, passengers breathless at IGI airport
There was panic in an Air India flight coming from Bengaluru to Delhi on Thursday night when an alert of fire in the engine of the plane was received just before landing. After the incident, full emergency was immediately declared at Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport. However, due to the pilot’s intelligence and safety procedures, the plane landed safely and a major accident was averted.
According to the information, Air India flight AI 2802 was coming from Bengaluru to Delhi. There were 171 passengers on board the Airbus A320 aircraft. The plane made a safe landing on Runway 29R of Delhi Airport at around 9:30 pm. After this the aircraft was removed from the runway and towed. Normal operations on the runway were resumed approximately 48 minutes later at 10:18 pm.

Fire warning alert found in the cockpit
Air India issued a statement saying that when the plane was approaching Delhi Airport, the cockpit crew received a fire warning alert related to the engine. Later investigation found this warning to be true. After this, the pilot and crew made a safe landing of the aircraft following all the safety standards. According to the airline, all passengers and crew members are completely safe.
After the incident, Air India has started a detailed investigation into the matter. The airline said the cause of the incident will be investigated in coordination with relevant regulatory agencies. The company says that the safety of passengers and crew is its biggest priority and every necessary step is being taken.

Air India is sharing the statement of its spokesperson on social media, ‘We have received information about an accident related to flight AI2802 going from Bengaluru to Delhi on 21 May 2026. The plane has landed safely and all the passengers and crew members are completely safe. We are currently gathering more information about this matter and working closely with the relevant authorities. We will share further updates as new information emerges.

There was a tail strike in Bengaluru in the morning.
Surprisingly, on the same day in the morning, another Air India aircraft met with a technical accident. During the landing of flight AI 2651, which was going from Delhi to Bengaluru with 181 passengers, the rear part of the plane hit the runway heavily. After that incident the aircraft was grounded for detailed technical inspection.
