Air India Plane’s Tail Hits Runway While Landing At Bengaluru Airport: The tail part of Air India plane hits the runway while landing at Bengaluru Airport.

New Delhi. A plane escaped an accident at Bengaluru airport today. An Air India plane arriving from Delhi to Bengaluru fell victim to tail-strike while landing at the airport and its rear part hit the runway. There were 179 people on board Air India flight number AI2651. However, the pilot handled the situation and landed the plane safely. As soon as the plane stopped, the passengers and crew members on board were evacuated safely. The aircraft has been grounded and an investigation into the cause of the incident has been launched.

An Air India spokesperson said the aircraft was an Airbus A321. This incident will be investigated in accordance with the prescribed procedures in coordination with the relevant regulatory authorities. After this incident, the return flight number AI2652 from Bengaluru to Delhi has been cancelled. Alternative arrangements are being made for the affected passengers. The ground staff of the airport is in touch with the passengers and all possible assistance is being provided to them. Air India has expressed regret to the passengers for this inconvenience. The airline says that the safety of passengers is of paramount importance for it.

According to the International Air Transport Association, tail-strike, or the rear end of an aircraft hitting the ground, occurs when an aircraft tilts at a particular angle during take-off, landing or go-around, causing its rear to touch the runway. In such a situation, sometimes the aircraft becomes uncontrolled and there is a danger of going out of the runway, which can lead to a major accident. According to media reports, a Boeing 747 had taken off before the landing of this plane. The strong wind coming out of its engine had an impact on the Air India plane following behind.
