PM Modi held a meeting with ministers for 4.30 hours, discussed many important issues including the Middle East crisis.
New Delhi, 21 May. Prime Minister Narendra Modi held a major meeting with all his ministers on Thursday evening, hours after returning from a five-nation trip. In the meeting that lasted for about four and a half hours, many big issues ranging from the Middle East crisis to the country’s progress were discussed. During this, the work of various ministries was observed and further strategy was decided.
The meeting, which started at 5 pm at PM Modi’s residence ‘Seva Tirtha’, ended at around 9.30 pm. In this, all the cabinet ministers of the central government, ministers of state with independent charge and other ministers of state also participated. This was the first full cabinet meeting of this year. Also, this happened at a time when two years of the third term of the Modi government are about to be completed.
According to sources, this meeting was a kind of ‘mid-term review’ of the government. What different ministries did, what major decisions were taken in the last few months, what was their result and what to do next, all these issues were discussed in depth.
9 Ministries kept details of their work
During the meeting, nine ministries presented details of their work. First the Commerce Ministry gave a presentation. After this, the work of important ministries like Petroleum, Home Ministry, Finance and Foreign Ministry was also reviewed.
Ministries were already asked to present their reforms by dividing them into four parts. First, change in law. Second, change in rules. Third, change in policy. And fourth, changes in the way of working. It also had to be told what impact these changes had on the common people.
PM Modi gave these instructions to ministers
PM Modi gave clear instructions to the ministers to work keeping 2047 in mind. That is, always keep in mind the goal of making India a developed country by 2047. He laid emphasis on further reforms in ‘Ease of Living’ i.e. making the life of common people easier. The focus remained on big government schemes and infrastructure projects, whether the work is being done properly or not and how is the coordination between the ministries.
West Asia crisis also discussed
At present, the tension going on in the Middle East i.e. West Asia is also affecting India’s economy. This issue was also discussed in the meeting. PM Modi asked the ministers to take such steps that the common citizens face minimum problems due to this crisis. Special attention was given to sectors like energy, agriculture, fertilizers, aviation, shipping and logistics.
It is noteworthy that already a powerful informal group of ministers led by Defense Minister Rajnath Singh is keeping an eye on this Middle East crisis. However, Rajnath Singh was not at Thursday’s meeting as he is on a tour of South Korea. Similarly, Health Minister JP Nadda could not attend the meeting as he was in Geneva.
