Humayun Kabir’s controversial statement regarding sacrifice on Bakrid, sacrifice will remain

Humayun Kabir, President of Aam Janata Unnayan Party in West Bengal, has refused to obey an order issued by the state government under Animal Slaughter Control. In this order it was said that no sacrifice should be made. On this Kabir said that sacrifice has been going on since 1400 years ago and sacrifice will not stop in the state. He clearly said that as long as this world exists, there will be sacrifices. Kabir did not stop here, he said that cows will also be sacrificed, goats will also be sacrificed. There is a fear that this statement of Kabir will spoil the communal atmosphere. However, the state has already made preparations to deal with any such situation.

Humayun Kabir’s argument regarding sacrifice

Humayun Kabir said that sacrifice of goat and camel will happen but no one can stop the sacrifice of cow also. Humayun says that all the animals are legitimate. Humayun Kabir is continuously saying that sacrifice has been happening for centuries, it will continue to happen.

Kabir’s answer to government orders

Kabir said that the government has the right to issue any order regarding the cow but the sacrifice cannot be stopped. Kabir also said that the government can make this rule and tell Muslims not to eat cows. But the tradition of sacrifice will continue. We are not going to listen to anyone here.

What is the order of Bengal government?

Under the Animal Slaughter Control Act 1950, the state government had issued an order to ban open sacrifice. Kabir has given a statement against this order. Iqbal Ansari, the main proponent of the Babri Masjid Ram Janmabhoomi case, has said that the Muslim community should respect the cow and urged the Central Government to declare the cow as the national animal.
