Twisha Sharma Death Case: Madhya Pradesh government recommends CBI investigation
The Madhya Pradesh government on Friday recommended a probe by the Central Bureau of Investigation into the dowry death case of Noida resident Twisha Sharma, who died at her matrimonial home in Bhopal.
According to an official notification issued by the state Home Department, the government has granted formal consent for the transfer of the investigation to the central agency.
The notification stated that the state government exercised its powers under Section 6 of the Delhi Special Police Establishment Act, 1946, to allow the CBI to investigate the case across Madhya Pradesh. The approval covers the investigation into the primary offence, alleged abetment, and any related criminal conspiracy connected to the case.
The order was issued in the name of the Governor and signed by Home Department Secretary Krishnaveni Deshavatu.
As part of the process, copies of the notification have been sent to several senior central and state officials for immediate action. These include the Joint Secretary of the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT), the Union Home Secretary, the CBI Director in New Delhi, the Director General of Police of Madhya Pradesh, the Bhopal District Magistrate, the Bhopal Police Commissioner, and regional CBI officials in Bhopal.
The move is expected to facilitate the immediate transfer of all relevant case documents and investigation records to the central agency.
The case has drawn significant attention after allegations related to dowry harassment and suspicious circumstances surrounding Twisha Sharma’s death emerged. Further details regarding the timeline of the CBI investigation are awaited.
