Indian team announced in Under-18 Women’s Asia Cup, Sweety Kujur gets captaincy
Asia Cup will be organized from May 29 to June 6 in Kakamigahara, Japan.
New Delhi. Sweety Kujur was on Friday appointed the captain of the 18-member Indian women’s under-18 team for the Asia Cup hockey tournament to be held in Kakamigahara, Japan from May 29 to June 6. Apart from Kujur, Nausheen Naz, Priyanka Minj, Sandeep Kumari and Nancy Saroha are included in the front row of this team.
The middle row includes Shruti Kumari, Diya, Sneha Davde, Rashmeen Kaur, Nammi Geeta Shree and Pushpa Manjhi and the defense includes Sugan Sanga, Neelam Topno, Rubina Baksala, Kiran Ekka, Sulochani and goalkeepers Mehak Parihar and Khili Kumari. The Indian team took part in the national camp in Bhopal for this tournament. During this period, the Indian team also played a four-match series against Australia.
India has been placed in Pool A in the competition where it will face Korea, Malaysia and Singapore. India will start its campaign against Malaysia on May 30, after which it will play against Korea on May 31 and Singapore on June 2. Pool B includes China, Japan, Chinese Taipei and Bangladesh. The semi-finals will be played on June 5 and the final on June 6.
