LPG Subsidy Alert: Government’s new order for gas consumers, if this work is not done before June 30, subsidy will be stopped.
A very important and big update is coming from the Central Government for crores of consumers using LPG gas cylinders. If you are also taking advantage of the subsidy available on your gas cylinder every month, then it is very important for you to know this news. The government has now made it completely mandatory for all gas consumers to get eKYC (Electronic Know Your Customer) done.
If you do not complete the eKYC process of your gas connection within the stipulated time limit, the subsidy coming into your bank account can be stopped forever. Along with this, it can also have a direct impact on many other important services related to your gas connection, due to which you may have to face a lot of trouble in booking a new cylinder in future.
Why did the government take this tough decision to conduct eKYC?
The main objective of the government is to make the country’s LPG connections and subsidy distribution system completely transparent, clean and safe. Through eKYC, the identity of every consumer is digitally verified. By doing this, fake gas connections running in the market and middlemen who wrongly take advantage of government subsidies can be completely controlled.
According to government information, the last date for completing eKYC for all consumers has been fixed as June 30, 2026. Therefore, the government and gas companies have given strict advice to all the common citizens to complete this important work in time without waiting for the last date.
Now the hassle of going to gas agency is over, do eKYC like this from mobile sitting at home
Gas consumers do not need to worry at all because in this digital era you will not have to go to the gas agency to stand in long lines. Now you can easily complete the eKYC process sitting at home through your smartphone. For this you will have to follow some very easy steps.
First of all, you have to download the official mobile app of your respective gas company (like Indane, Bharat Gas or HP) from the Play Store of your mobile. After the app is installed, login into the app using the mobile number registered with your gas connection. After this go to the ‘My Profile’ section given in the app. There you will see an option of eKYC within ‘LPG Details’, click on it.
Now read the terms and conditions appearing on the screen carefully and give your consent (Tick). After this, complete the verification of your identity through OTP received on your mobile or face scan (by showing your face). Finally, fill all the required information correctly and submit the form. Usually your eKYC process is completely updated from the backend within 24 to 48 hours after the form is submitted.
This work can also be done in a jiffy with the government UMANG app.
If you do not want to download or use the personal mobile app of your gas company, then this task can be done very easily through the official UMANG app of the government. For this, first of all open Umang app in your phone. Go to the ‘Gas Services’ section on the main page of the app and select the eKYC option there. After this login with the help of your mobile number and MPIN. Fill your details by following the necessary instructions shown on the screen and complete the process successfully.
Important advice for consumers: Procrastination can prove costly
After the implementation of this new system, all LPG consumers of the country are given strict instructions not to be careless in any way and must complete their eKYC before the last date. Ignoring or postponing this will not only stop your monthly subsidy, but may also hamper essential services like booking and delivery of your domestic gas cylinder. When this work is being done so easily digitally at home, it would be wise to complete it as soon as possible instead of postponing it so that you can avoid any possible inconvenience and financial loss.
