  • Bangalore has the advantage in the playoff equation
  • RCB’s flop batting show against Hyderabad

The 67th League Stage match of Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 was played between Sunrisers Hyderabad and Royal Challengers Bangalore. The host team Sunrisers Hyderabad won the match by 55 runs. Batting first, Hyderabad scored 255 runs in 20 overs. In reply, Bangalore could only score 200 runs. However, even after winning the match, Hyderabad will not be able to play Qualifier 1. Hyderabad win but RCB beat the bet

Royal Challengers Bangalore, who are in the strongest position in the IPL, lost their match against Hyderabad. But despite this loss, RCB did not suffer any loss, as they remained at the top of the points table thanks to a good net run rate. This will give them two chances to reach the finals. The first qualifier match will be played between RCB and Gujarat Titans on 26 May. Hyderabad, on the other hand, did not benefit from this win. Hyderabad are third in the points table. This will make them play an eliminator match.

Hyderabad dominated the match against RCB

In the Rajiv Gandhi International match, Sunrisers Hyderabad won the toss and elected to bat first. Travis Head and Abhishek Sharma gave the team a strong start. They added 45 runs for the first wicket in four overs, but Rasik Salam Dar dismissed Head for 26 runs. After that, Abhishek Sharma combined with Ishan Kishan. Abhishek scored his half century in just 20 balls and scored 56 runs in 22 balls. Ishan Kishan also formed a formidable batting partnership with Heinrich Klaasen. Klaasen scored 51 runs off 24 balls, while Ishan Kishan scored 79 runs. Nitish Reddy also batted at number five and scored an unbeaten 29 off 12 balls.

RCB’s flop batting show against Hyderabad

RCB’s strong batting failed against Hyderabad. Venkatesh Iyer got off to a flying start with 44 off 19 balls, but was dismissed by Ishan Malinga. After that, Shakib Hussain gave a big blow to RCB by dismissing Virat Kohli for 15 runs. Devdutt Padikkal managed to score only 21 runs off 14 balls. Rajat Patidar scored 56 runs, but his innings was too slow. Krunal Pandya scored 41 not out and Tim David scored 15 not out. In the end, RCB managed only 200 runs and lost the match by 55 runs.

RCB tops the points table

Bangalore won 9 out of 14 matches to top the points table with 18 points. Gujarat Titans also won nine out of 14 matches. Hyderabad also won nine out of 14 matches, but their net run rate is lower than RCB and Gujarat. Now, Rajasthan have a good chance to finish fourth. Rajasthan will face Mumbai and a win in that match will determine their place in the playoffs. A defeat would give KKR or Punjab a chance to qualify.
