Tamil Nadu shocked by the murder of a 10 year old girl: People took to the streets, CM Vijay said ‘I will not spare the criminals’
Chennai: The murder of a 10-year-old girl in Sulur area of Coimbatore district of Tamil Nadu has shaken the entire state. The girl was missing since Thursday evening and her body was found in an injured condition near Kannampalayam lake on Friday. Police have arrested two accused in this case. The accused have been identified as Karthik and Mohan Raj.
The girl had gone to buy groceries
According to the police, the girl had gone out to buy groceries from near her house. During this time the accused kidnapped him and later murdered him. As soon as the news of the incident spread, people in Sulur erupted in anger. The girl’s parents and relatives demonstrated outside Sulur police station. The family said that they will not take the body until an official statement comes from the Chief Minister. A family member said that we had voted for change, but now there is not even any trust.
CM Joseph Vijay expressed grief
Chief Minister Joseph Vijay described this incident as extremely sad and shocking. He wrote on social media platform X that such inhuman crimes will not be tolerated in the society under any circumstances. He assured that the criminals will not be spared.

Tamil Nadu Director General of Police Sandeep Rai Rathore has also reached Coimbatore to review the investigation. Family relative Senthil Kumar said that first he got information about the girl’s disappearance, later her body was found on the lake shore. After the incident, students and local people protested by blocking the road.
The matter became a political issue
After this incident the politics of the state has heated up. Opposition party DMK has raised questions regarding law and order on the new TVK government. DMK leader Udhayanidhi Stalin said that within 12 days of the formation of the government, more than 30 major criminal incidents have taken place in the state. These include cases like sexual violence, ganja smuggling, hooliganism and murder of the girl child.
Government assured action
It is noteworthy that Tamil Nadu Minister MS Sampath went to the hospital and met the victim’s family. He said that he has spoken to the Chief Minister and investigation is ongoing. The accused will be given strict punishment. TVK MLA from Sulur NM Sukumar also assured the family of justice.
BJP leader Narayanan Tirupati described the incident as tragic, but also targeted the previous DMK government. He said that the poor law and order situation is the result of the previous government and the situation does not change immediately.
