IPL 2026 points table: Who qualified, whose playoff dream was broken?
Delhi: The league stage of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 is now over. After 70 matches, the tournament has now reached its most exciting phase i.e. the knockout stage. Four teams have made it to the playoffs, while the journey of six teams ended here. Now there will be a fierce battle for the title.

Rajasthan made place in playoff by defeating Mumbai
The picture of the playoffs became completely clear after the last league matches. Rajasthan Royals (RR) defeated Mumbai Indians to occupy the fourth position and won the last playoff ticket. Earlier, Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB), Gujarat Titans (GT) and Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) had already reached the next round.
Bengaluru and Gujarat will clash in Qualifier-1
Royal Challengers Bangalore and Gujarat Titans, who have secured the top two positions in the points table, will now face each other in Qualifier-1. This match will be played on Tuesday, 26 May 2026 at the Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association Stadium in Dharamshala. The match will start at 7:30 pm Indian time.
The winning team of this match will directly reach the finals, while the losing team will get another chance to reach the finals through Qualifier-2.
Hyderabad and Rajasthan clash in eliminator
The eliminator match between Sunrisers Hyderabad and Rajasthan Royals will be played on Wednesday, 27 May 2026 at Maharaja Yadvindra Singh International Cricket Stadium, Mullanpur, New Chandigarh. This match will also start at 7:30 pm.
The losing team in the eliminator will be out of the tournament, while the winning team will enter Qualifier-2.
Bengaluru remained at number-1 in the points table
Royal Challengers Bangalore finished the league stage at the top position with 18 points from 14 matches. The team won nine matches and lost five. Bengaluru’s net run rate was +0.783, which proved to be better than other teams.
Gujarat Titans also scored 18 points, but due to net run rate of +0.695, the team remained in second place. Gujarat also recorded nine wins and five losses.
Sunrisers Hyderabad performed brilliantly and secured the third position. The team also had 18 points in its account, but due to its net run rate being +0.524, it remained at third position.
Rajasthan Royals collected 16 points with eight wins and six losses. The team’s net run rate was +0.189 and with this it secured the last place in the playoffs.
Broken dream of Punjab and Delhi
Punjab Kings was out of the playoff race by a very narrow margin. The team won seven matches, lost six and one match remained inconclusive. Punjab had a total of 15 points.
Delhi Capitals also registered seven wins, but the poor net run rate of -0.651 proved costly for the team. Delhi stood sixth with 14 points.
Disappointing performance of Kolkata and Chennai
Kolkata Knight Riders won six matches this season and lost seven. Due to one match being cancelled, the team could reach 13 points and finished seventh.
The performance of five-time champion Chennai Super Kings was not as per expectations. The team achieved only six wins in 14 matches and finished the campaign in eighth place with 12 points.
Very bad season of Mumbai and Lucknow
This season has been no less than a nightmare for Mumbai Indians. The team could win only four out of 14 matches, while it had to face defeat in 10 matches. Mumbai stood ninth with eight points.

The situation of Lucknow Super Giants was also similar to that of Mumbai. The team won only four matches and lost 10. Lucknow’s net run rate was -0.740, which proved to be the worst among all the teams this season.
