Louise Thompson says she’s ‘grieving’ her fertility reality
Louise Thompson has said she is “grieving” the reality that she will not be able to carry another child, as she opened up about her ongoing fertility struggles and surrogacy journey with partner Ryan Libbey.
The 35-year-old former Made in Chelsea star shared an emotional update as the couple continues plans to expand their family through surrogacy following a series of serious health complications.
Thompson previously nearly died during the birth of her son Leo in 2021 after undergoing an emergency caesarean section. In the aftermath, she experienced post-natal PTSD and anxiety linked to the traumatic delivery.
She has also since been diagnosed with lupus and Asherman’s syndrome, and has undergone further medical complications, including a second haemorrhage and stoma surgery.

The couple have now embarked on a £50,000 IVF and surrogacy process in the hope of welcoming another child.
In her latest message, Thompson described the emotional complexity of her experience, saying she feels genuine happiness for others announcing pregnancies while also confronting her own personal grief.
“This is not a pity piece or a cry for help,” she wrote, explaining that her feelings reflect a wider emotional conflict many people face when dealing with fertility challenges.
She added that she is “grieving” the loss of the experience she once expected, while also acknowledging moments of joy in others’ milestones. Thompson said the process has been “quietly eroding” her emotionally, but emphasised that mixed feelings of joy and pain can coexist.
Her comments have resonated with many followers who have also experienced fertility struggles, as she continues to document her journey publicly.
