Addressing the gathering through a speakerphone call organized by the US Embassy, Trump described PM Modi as his close friend and said relations between the two countries have “never been better.” Speaking to hundreds of attendees at the reception, Trump said:
“I like the Prime Minister very much. Modi is a very good person. He is my friend. We have never been closer to India than we are now; and India can trust me and our country 100%.”
Trump described himself as a big fan of PM Modi
Trump reiterated his strong support for India and praised Prime Minister Modi’s leadership. He said:
“If India ever needs help, it knows who to call. Our economy and stock markets are performing at record highs, leading to tremendous growth. Whatever India wants to achieve, we have it in place. I am a big fan of Prime Minister Modi.”

Trump also praised US Secretary of State Marco Rubio, who attended the event and is currently on an official visit to India.
