Former India cricketer Suresh Raina praised the consistency in the performance of Gujarat Titans openers Shubman Gill and Sai Sudarshan, terming them the best batting pair in the history of IPL. Repeating the excellent performance of last season, Gill and Sudarshan gave record performances in IPL 2026. By making their tenth century partnership, both of them equaled the records of Chris Gayle and Virat Kohli, Babar Azam and Mohammad Rizwan and AB de Villiers and Kohli.
Raina said on Jio Hotstar’s program ‘Champion Wali Commentary’ – “Shubman Gill and Sai Sudarshan Tata are the best batting pair in the history of IPL. Together, both have scored more than 50 runs 21 times in 46 innings.
He said, “The next best pair is Chris Gayle and Virat Kohli followed by AB de Villiers and Kohli. This shows how great the pairing of Gill and Sai is. Both complement each other’s games. Both of them have made 21 half-century partnerships in just 46 innings. Gayle and Kohli reached there in 59 innings while ABD and Kohli reached there in 76 innings.
Raina said- Both are extremely fit and understand each other’s game. He knows when to play aggressively and when to play which shot. There is amazing consistency in their performance which no other pair can match.
