25 Murders Within 15 Days of Swearing-In in Tamil Nadu; CM Vijay Under All-Round Fire Over Law and Order 25 murders within 15 days of swearing-in in Tamil Nadu, CM Vijay under all-round fire over law and order – ..

Within just two weeks of a major upheaval in power in Tamil Nadu and actor-turned-politician Joseph Vijay (Thalapathy Vijay) taking over as the Chief Minister, the politics of the state has completely heated up. The opposition has opened a front against the new government by raising the issue of several criminal incidents allegedly taking place within the state in the last 15 days. DMK leader and Leader of Opposition in the Assembly Udhayanidhi Stalin has raised serious questions on the administrative capability of Chief Minister Vijay and alleged that this government has completely failed in providing security to the public.

25 murders and 19 sexual crimes in 15 days: Udhayanidhi Stalin’s claim

Leader of Opposition Udhayanidhi Stalin has shared a very sharp and long post on the social media platform X. He claimed that since the new government took over the reins of the state, 25 murders, 4 double murders and 19 sexual crimes have been reported in Tamil Nadu (in just 15 days).

Taking a dig at CM Vijay, Stalin wrote: “The real ‘change’ of the government which had talked about ‘change’ from big platforms just before the assembly elections, is now clearly visible to the public in the form of unbridled increasing crimes in the state. Honorable Chief Minister, seeing the way the law and order situation in Tamil Nadu has changed, one has to ask, is it Tamil Nadu or Uttar Pradesh?”

A new controversy has arisen after Udhayanidhi compared Tamil Nadu with Uttar Pradesh regarding the crime graph, which is drawing sharp reactions in political circles.

These two big incidents increased the problems of the government

The opposition’s attack comes at a time when two highly sensitive criminal cases have come to light in the state:

Murder of minor in Madurai: A 17-year-old boy named Kubendran was allegedly brutally murdered by a group of five men while sleeping in the parking area of the famous Meenakshi Amman temple in Madurai and threw the body down from the first floor. Police suspect that this incident is the result of some old dispute that took place during the ‘Chithirai’ festival.

Incidents in Coimbatore and Villupuram: A case of kidnapping and murder of a 10-year-old innocent girl has come to light in Sulur (Kannampalayam), Coimbatore. Soon after this, an incident of sexual harassment of a girl has also come to light in Villupuram district. Stalin alleged that in the Sulur case, even the last rites were performed in a hurry without giving proper information to the victim’s family.

BJP also said attack, raised questions on drugs and law and order

Vijay government is facing opposition not only from DMK but also from Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on this issue. Senior BJP leader K. Taking on the government, Annamalai alleged that “at present, drug smugglers, sex offenders and murderers have got a free hand in Tamil Nadu.” At the same time, State BJP President Nainar Nagendran has demanded immediate and strictest punitive action against the culprits involved in these heinous crimes.

Chief Minister Joseph Vijay’s action mode: Strict instructions to police

Chief Minister Joseph Vijay has reiterated his commitment to the law and order situation amid all-round attacks. He has talked about adopting a policy of ‘zero tolerance’ on crimes against women and children.

The Chief Minister issued an official statement saying:

“I have given strict instructions to the Director General of Police and concerned officers to promptly and thoroughly investigate all these cases. Chargesheets have been asked to be filed immediately in the courts. Our government will act with utmost strictness and ensure that no culprit committing heinous crimes against women and children is spared and they are given the strictest punishment under the law.”
