Irregularities in NEET should be investigated by a retired Supreme Court judge: Amba Prasad!

Congress targeted the central government and the National Testing Agency over paper leaks and administrative anomalies in the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) UG examination for admission to medical colleges.

Addressing a press conference at Congress Bhawan in Ranchi on Monday, All India Congress Committee Secretary Amba Prasad said that the credibility of the country’s most prestigious medical entrance examination is completely at stake today, which is a direct cruel play with the dreams and future of millions of promising students of India and their parents.

Questioning the functioning of the National Examination Agency, Amba Prasad said that the institution which was entrusted with the very important responsibility of conducting transparent examinations, has today itself become the biggest synonym of administrative failures.

Giving examples of the last few years, he said that continuous leaking of question papers of competitive examinations, organized rigging at examination centres, huge discrepancies in results and technical flaws are enough to prove that NTA has completely lost its relevance and the trust of the country.

The AICC Secretary alleged that the Central Government and the Union Education Ministry are becoming mute spectators to these ongoing irregularities. Every time the government shirks its responsibility by giving only rote assurances of investigation and action, the result of which is that today the youth of the country have completely lost faith in India’s examination system.

In this background, Congress has demanded the Union Education Minister to immediately resign from the post, taking moral responsibility. Amba Prasad demanded an independent and high level committee to investigate the NEET paper leak issue under the chairmanship of a retired Supreme Court judge.

The Congress Secretary said that the Congress Party will continue to strongly raise this issue from the streets to the Parliament by becoming the vocal voice of the affected students across the country.
