Breaking News: Village head will remain the administrator till Panchayat elections are held in UP, CM Yogi Adityanath approved

Lucknow: In UP, the tenure of village heads was till May 25 only. Even after his tenure ends, he will continue to have influence in the Gram Panchayats. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has approved the proposal to give the work of administrators to village heads of Uttar Pradesh Panchayati Raj Department.

Its order will be issued by Monday evening. For the first time in Uttar Pradesh, administrative committees will be formed in Gram Panchayats. Panchayats will be formed in Uttar Pradesh only after the assembly elections 2027. In view of this, administrators will be made in Gram Panchayats before 26th May. The ongoing speculation regarding Panchayat elections in UP has ended. Now Panchayat elections will be held only after the 2027 assembly elections.

The tenure of heads of 57 thousand 695 gram panchayats of the state is ending on 26th May. Due to this, the Panchayati Raj Department has given shape to the plan of making the heads administrators and Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has also given the green signal. There are preparations to hold Panchayat elections in Uttar Pradesh after the Assembly Elections 2027. For this reason, a decision has been taken regarding the administrators of Gram Sabhas. Yogi Adityanath Government has decided to make only the existing village heads as administrators.

The tenure of UP Panchayats is ending on Tuesday. Panchayati Raj Minister Om Prakash Rajbhar has said that only the heads should be appointed as administrators. Omprakash Rajbhar has also given a proposal in this regard to the Chief Minister. A decision on this will be taken after the tenure of the Panchayat ends on Tuesday.

For the first time, the government has decided to give the responsibility of administrators till the elections to the Pradhans. Till now in Uttar Pradesh, ADO Panchayat was made the administrator, but this time on the lines of Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh and Uttarakhand, only village heads are being given the responsibility. Till the Panchayat elections, the responsibility of development works of the villages will remain with the current heads.

National Panchayati Raj Gram Pradhan Sangh had also made the same demand from the government. Under normal circumstances, elections should have been held by now, but due to the High Court process and the Commission’s report, the elections are likely to be delayed by about a year. One reason for the delay in the three-tier Panchayat elections is that the Panchayat voter list is not completely prepared. Its final voter list will be released on June 10.
