Iran’s Supreme Leader says missiles and drones struck US and Israel, calls attacks proof of ‘God’s promise of victory’
Iran’s Supreme Leader said the country’s armed forces used missiles and drones to strike both the United States and Israel, claiming the attacks proved “God’s promise of victory” amid the ongoing Middle East conflict.
The statement came as tensions remained high despite continuing diplomatic efforts between Washington and Tehran to end the three-month-old war. Recent reports said the United States and Iran have been discussing a possible agreement involving the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz, sanctions relief and further negotiations on Iran’s nuclear programme.
The remarks also followed fresh US strikes in southern Iran, which Washington described as defensive action targeting sites linked to missile launches and suspected mine-laying activity near the Strait of Hormuz.
Iran has continued to frame its military response as retaliation against US-Israeli operations, while Israel and the United States remain focused on Iran’s missile and nuclear capabilities. Reuters reported that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has expressed concerns over the US-Iran negotiations and the possibility of a deal that may not fully address Israel’s security demands.
The latest statement from Tehran is expected to keep regional tensions elevated, with oil markets, global equities and diplomatic channels closely tracking every development from the conflict.
