MLC elections announced for 10 seats in Bihar, political activity intensifies

Patna. The stir has once again intensified in the politics of Bihar. The Election Commission has announced to hold elections on 10 seats of the Legislative Council. Voting on these seats will be held on June 18. The special thing is that these also include the vacant seat of former Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, on which by-election will be held.

Political parties have started making election strategies. Considering the numerical strength of the Assembly, the position of many parties seems to be changing in this election. Especially Congress and RJD may have to suffer loss in terms of seats, while NDA is expected to gain.

Nomination process will start from June 1st

According to the schedule of the Election Commission, the nomination process will start with the release of the notification on June 1. Candidates will be able to file nomination till June 8. Nomination papers will be scrutinized on June 9, while the time for withdrawal of nominations has been fixed for June 11.

If the number of candidates remains equal compared to seats then the election will be declared unopposed. But if the number of candidates increases then voting will be held on June 18. Voting will take place from 9 am to 4 pm and the results will be released immediately after counting of votes.

The tenure of these members is ending

The Legislative Council members whose tenure is ending on June 28 include Dr. Kumud Verma, Prof. Ghulam Gaus, Mohd. Farooq, Bhisham Sahni, Shri Bhagwan Singh Kushwaha, Sanjay Prakash, Samekar Kumar Singh, Samrat Chaudhary and Suniral Kumar Singh. Apart from this, by-election will also be held on the seat vacant due to the resignation of Nitish Kumar.

Congress and RJD may get a shock

On the basis of numerical strength in the Assembly, this time the position of Congress is considered weak. Political experts say that Congress will not be able to send any member from its quota to the Legislative Council in this election. After the tenure of Congress Legislative Councilor Dr. Sameer Kumar Singh ends, only two members of the party will be left in the council.

At the same time, RJD may also have to suffer the loss of one seat. Two members of the party are retiring, but as per the current numerical strength in the assembly, it is likely to get only one seat. Of the 10 seats where elections are to be held, JDU has the maximum of five seats. Two members each of BJP and RJD are retiring.
