Bihar Vidhan Parishad Election: Forms will be filled from June 1, future of 10 new MLCs of Bihar will be decided on June 18.

A huge stir has started once again in the politics of Bihar. The Central Election Commission of the country has officially announced the elections for a total of 10 vacant seats of Bihar Legislative Council (MLC). According to the schedule released by the Election Commission, voting on all these seats will be held on June 18. At the same time, the process of nomination for this election riot is going to start from June 1.

This election is being considered as a battle of credibility for many big and famous political faces of Bihar. Ever since the election dates were revealed, the round of discussions regarding calculations and names of candidates has intensified within political parties from Patna to Delhi.

Nomination process will start from June 1

According to the official notification issued by the Election Commission, the process of filing nomination papers for MLC elections in the state will start from June 1. Candidates will be able to file their nomination papers till June 8. After this, all the nomination papers filed the next day i.e. on June 9 will be closely scrutinized.

The Election Commission has fixed June 11 as the last date for candidates to withdraw their names. This date is very important from the point of view of Bihar politics, because if only 10 or less candidates are left in the fray against the total seats (10 seats), then the unopposed election of all the candidates will be announced on June 11 and there will be no voting.

Voting will be held on 18th June and results will be declared on the same day.

If more than the prescribed number of candidates are in the fray for 10 seats and elections are required, voting will be held on June 18. The voting process will start from 9 am to 4 pm.

The Election Commission has decided to keep this entire process very transparent and quick. The counting of votes will start immediately after the end of voting i.e. on the evening of 18th June and the results will also be declared by late evening. In this way the entire election process will be completed within just one day.

The tenure of many veterans including the vacant seat of former Chief Minister Nitish Kumar ends.

This time the Legislative Council elections are very special because the tenure of many prominent leaders of Bihar is coming to an end. The tenure of the 9 members of the council, whose tenure is going to end on June 28, includes big names like Dr. Kumud Verma, Ghulam Ghaus, Mohammad Farooq, Bhisham Sahni, Shri Bhagwan Singh Kushwaha, Sanjay Prakash, Sameer Kumar Singh, Samrat Chaudhary and Sunil Kumar Singh.

Apart from this, the biggest eye is on the 10th seat which has become vacant after the resignation of former Chief Minister Nitish Kumar. By-election is being held under the same program on this seat which became vacant after Nitish Kumar moved to the Upper House (Rajya Sabha).

The mathematics of seats between NDA and opposition got disturbed, shock is certain for Congress.

The political equations are changing rapidly based on the current numerical strength of Bihar Assembly. If we look at the old equation of seats becoming vacant, these include 5 seats of Janata Dal United (JDU), 2 seats of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and 2 seats of Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD).

It is certain that the Congress party will face a major political setback in this election due to severe lack of numbers. Looking at the number of present MLAs, Congress does not seem to be losing even a single seat this time. On the other hand, there is huge enthusiasm within the ruling National Democratic Alliance (NDA) and there is talk that two of their key ministers may get safe entry in the council this time. Now it will be interesting to see on which side the camel sits on the evening of 18th June.
