Played big in Tamil Nadu! Will CM Vijay bring down the price of Congress? AIADMK MLAs changed the whole game
A very big and sensational news is coming out from the politics of Tamil Nadu at this time. Superstar C. Joseph Vijay (Thalapathy Vijay) is running his new coalition government in the state. But meanwhile, the news coming from the inner corridors has alerted the colleagues. It is being said that Vijay may have formed the government with the help of alliance at present, but his intention seems to be different and very ambitious.
According to political pundits, Chief Minister Vijay now wants to run a government with full majority in Tamil Nadu without any crutch, i.e. on his own strength. If this strategy is completely successful, then the Congress in the government may face a big blow.
On one hand, Chief Minister Vijay is continuously taking big and welfare steps to strengthen his reach among the people, so that the trust of the people can be won. On the other hand, without any major upheaval, three senior leaders of the opposing camp i.e. AIADMK have themselves come forward to join Vijay’s party ‘Tamilaga Vettari Kazhagam’ (TVK). After this big development, the discussion has become very intense in the political circles that TVK can sideline Congress very soon. With the support of these three AIADMK MLAs, Vijay is in a position to change the entire game.
Grand plan to enter Rajya Sabha and woo the public
CV Shanmugam has resigned from his Rajya Sabha post after winning a bumper victory from Melam assembly seat in Tamil Nadu. For this reason, it has been decided to hold a by-election for a vacant Rajya Sabha seat in the state on June 18. Chief Minister Vijay wants to make a grand entry of his party TVK in the Rajya Sabha through this seat.
A very surprising name is coming out from TVK for this seat. The party is making full preparations to send retired IAS officer U Sagayam to Rajya Sabha from here. There is a big strategy of victory hidden behind this. U Sagayam is known throughout the state for his impeccable integrity and his famous fight against corruption.
U Sagayam has been such a tough officer that he was transferred 25 times during his 28 years of tenure, but he never compromised on his principles. Now Chief Minister Vijay wants to send a clear and strong message to the people of Tamil Nadu by sending him to the Rajya Sabha that his government is working on a policy of zero tolerance against corruption. With this one step, traditional parties like DMK and AIADMK will automatically be put on the back foot and Vijay’s confidence among the public will skyrocket.
Chief Minister Vijay keeps a close eye on by-elections
Apart from this stake of Rajya Sabha, by-elections are also going to be held on 4 assembly seats of Tamil Nadu. One of these seats has been vacated by Chief Minister Vijay himself, because he had won from two different seats in the assembly elections. The remaining three seats have become vacant after the resignation of the leaders who switched sides from AIADMK and joined TVK.
Three AIADMK MLAs—K. Maragatham Kumaravel, S. Jayakumar and P. Satyabhama met the Assembly Speaker and submitted their resignations. Now the most interesting thing is that in the upcoming by-elections in the state, these three former MLAs will contest on the official ticket of TVK. Once they win the by-election, all three will legally become TVK MLAs and then no opposition alliance will get a chance to raise a finger.
How will Congress’s mathematics fail? Understand the whole equation
It is being said that at present the resignation of these three MLAs is just a small trailer, the real political picture is yet to be seen. A report in ‘The Indian Express’, quoting top TVK sources, has claimed that at least 7 to 8 more opposition MLAs may resign from their posts in the coming days and all of them are in line to join Vijay’s party. If this happens, the entire mathematics of the state will change.
If we understand the equation of seats, then a magic figure of 118 is required to form the government or have a majority in the 234-member Tamil Nadu Assembly. At present Vijay’s party TVK has 107 MLAs of its own. Now, if TVK wins all 4 seats in the by-elections, this number will increase to 111. Along with this, if as claimed by the sources, other 7-8 MLAs also switch sides to TVK’s side and win the by-election, then Chief Minister Vijay will easily have the required numbers (118+) to run the government on his own without any outside support.
At present, Vijay’s government has the support of 5 Congress MLAs, due to which the government is stable. But as soon as TVK itself touches the majority mark, Vijay will completely end his dependence on Congress. A senior TVK leader says that if the party wins majority on its own, it will send a message to the public that the government is completely stable, due to which people will prefer to choose the same government for a long time in the future.
Is this action of TVK like ‘Operation Lotus’?
In the initial phase, for political survival and strength, TVK had chosen the path of alliance, in which they also got the support of the rebel factions of AIADMK. But now this political cooperation has gradually transformed into a deliberate strategic advantage. Many analysts are seeing this development in the state as a kind of ‘political takeover’. In the past, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) had also adopted similar methods in states like Karnataka and Madhya Pradesh, which was named ‘Operation Lotus’ in the country’s politics.
According to the report of ‘The Indian Express’, the speed and aggressiveness with which the ruling party TVK is taking its steps, many big politicians of Tamil Nadu in personal conversations are considering it as a very ambitious project of Vijay. Political pundits say that TVK’s motive is now completely clear as glass – to completely eliminate blackmailing or dependence on allies and to single-handedly rule Tamil Nadu.
