TN CM Vijay meets FM Nirmala Sitharaman in Delhi; First official visit after assuming office

New Delhi: Tamil Nadu Chief Minister C Joseph Vijay on Wednesday met Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman in New Delhi as part of his first official visit to the national capital after assuming office earlier this month.

According to sources, the meeting focused on key financial and administrative issues concerning Tamil Nadu. The interaction came amid the state government’s push for greater financial support and faster release of central funds for welfare and infrastructure projects.

Part Of Vijay’s First Official Delhi Visit

The meeting with Sitharaman came hours after Vijay held talks with Prime Minister Narendra Modi. During that interaction, the Chief Minister raised concerns over the proposed Mekedatu dam project, the arrest of Tamil Nadu fishermen by the Sri Lankan Navy and issues related to Tamil Thai Vazhthu at official events.

Vijay also urged the Center to support the establishment of key defense and aerospace projects in Tamil Nadu, including facilities linked to the Defense Research and Development Organization (DRDO).

Political Outreach Continues

Apart from his meetings with Union ministers, Vijay is also expected to interact with several national political leaders during his Delhi visit. Sources said discussions with senior Congress leaders and representatives of alliance parties are also part of the itinerary.
