Names of metro station, hospital and sports complex will be changed in Delhi, Rekha government took a big decision

The Delhi government has taken a big decision to change the names of many public places with the aim of strengthening the identity of the capital and the local culture. This includes metro stations, hospitals, sports complexes and major intersections. The government says that the purpose of these changes is not just to change the name, but to respect the local identity, historical importance and sentiments of the people.

Local identity will get a new identity

The Delhi government has said that in many areas the old names were less popular among the people or they did not accurately reflect the local identity. In such a situation, new names are now being decided keeping in mind the cultural and social identity of those areas.

This topic was discussed in detail in the meeting chaired by Chief Minister Rekha Gupta. The government believes that the names of public places should be such that they make the local people feel connected and also give clear information about the place to the travelers.

Names of many metro stations changed

Approval has been given to change or modify the names of many existing and proposed stations of Delhi Metro. The government reviewed the names of a total of 21 stations, in which some names were kept unchanged while many were changed. The most talked about changes include the stations related to Pitampura area.

-‘Pitampura’ station has now been named ‘Madhuban Chowk’,

-‘North Pitampura’ was named ‘Haiderpur Village’.

Apart from this, the names of some stations were kept by combining two areas so that the passengers can get better recognition of the area. The government says that this step has been taken keeping in mind the convenience of passengers and local connectivity.

Hospital and sports complex will also be included

According to sources, preparations are being made to change not only the names of metro stations but also the names of many hospitals, sports complexes and major intersections. The government wants the names of major institutions of the capital to reflect Delhi’s cultural heritage and local history. Although the official list of all the new names has not been made completely public yet, it is believed that a detailed announcement will be made on it in the coming days.

Opposition raised questions

Political reaction has also started emerging on this decision of the government. The opposition says that instead of changing the name, the government should pay more attention to traffic, pollution and basic facilities. At the same time, the government argues that it is also the responsibility of the administration to preserve the identity and cultural heritage of the city.

What will be the benefit to the passengers?

Experts believe that it is easier for passengers to understand the route at stations whose names match the local identity. Many times, similar names create confusion, which can be reduced with new names. There will also be clarity in digital mapping and navigation systems.

This decision of the Delhi government is being linked to the changing identity of the capital and modern urban development. It will be interesting to see in the coming times how the public accepts these changes.
