Hero Super Splendor XTEC 2.0 Launched At Rs 86,500 With More Features And Higher Mileage
Hero MotoCorp has updated one of its most important commuter motorcycles with the launch of the Super Splendor XTEC 2.0. The 125cc motorcycle has been introduced at Rs 86,500, ex-showroom Delhi, and brings a sharper focus on fuel efficiency, digital features and everyday usability.
This is a key product for Hero because the 125cc commuter segment has become more demanding. Buyers in this space still want low running costs, reliability and easy maintenance, but they now also expect features that were once limited to more expensive motorcycles. Digital displays, Bluetooth alerts, LED lighting and mobile charging are no longer seen as unnecessary extras by many daily riders.
The Super Splendor XTEC 2.0 is Hero’s answer to that shift. It does not try to become a sporty 125cc motorcycle. Instead, it stays close to the commuter formula and adds features that are useful in daily riding.
The most visible update is the full-digital meter. It replaces the older analogue feel with a cleaner display and gives the rider key information in a more modern format. The Bluetooth function allows call and SMS alerts to appear on the console, reducing the need for riders to check their phone while riding.
Hero has also added a Type-C USB charging port, which is a practical feature for users who depend on their phone for navigation, payments or work calls through the day. For riders who cover long daily distances, this small feature can be more useful than a cosmetic upgrade.
Lighting has also been improved. The Super Splendor XTEC 2.0 gets an LED headlamp with HIPL, or high-intensity position lamp, which gives the motorcycle a more modern front-end identity. Hero has also added hazard lights, a useful safety feature in low-visibility conditions, roadside stops or emergency situations.
The motorcycle is offered in drum and front-disc brake variants. Both variants get the core XTEC features such as LED headlamp, digital meter, Bluetooth call and SMS alerts, and hazard light function.

The biggest talking point is the claimed 72 kmpl mileage. Hero says this figure is based on government-certified testing, though actual mileage will depend on riding conditions, traffic, load and maintenance. Even so, the number is important because fuel efficiency remains the strongest purchase trigger in the commuter segment.
The Super Splendor XTEC 2.0 uses a 124.7cc, air-cooled, 4-stroke, single-cylinder engine with advanced programmed fuel injection. The engine produces 10.7 bhp at 7,500 rpm and 10.6 Nm at 6,000 rpm. It is paired with a 5-speed constant mesh gearbox.
These numbers are meant to deliver predictable everyday performance. The engine output is suitable for city use, short highway runs and two-up commuting. The 5-speed gearbox also helps keep the engine more relaxed at moderate speeds compared with older 4-speed commuter setups.
Hero has also equipped the motorcycle with i3S idle stop-start technology and silent start with ISG. In practical terms, this is useful in stop-go traffic. The system can help reduce unnecessary fuel use when the motorcycle is idling at signals, while the silent start function makes restarts smoother.
The Super Splendor XTEC 2.0 continues with a diamond frame, telescopic hydraulic front suspension and 5-step adjustable rear suspension. The rear adjustability matters because commuter motorcycles often carry different loads, including a pillion, office bags, school bags or small business goods.
The motorcycle gets 18-inch tubeless tyres, with an 80/100 front tyre and a 90/90 rear tyre. Ground clearance is listed at 170 mm, which should help on rough city roads, speed breakers and broken patches. The seat height is 788 mm, keeping it accessible for a wide range of riders.
The fuel tank capacity is 12 litres. When paired with the high claimed mileage figure, this gives the motorcycle a strong theoretical range. For daily commuters, fewer fuel stops are a real benefit, especially when the vehicle is used for office travel, delivery work, college commutes or family errands.
Hero also highlights a 5-year or 70,000 km warranty, whichever comes first. In a segment where ownership cost is closely watched, warranty coverage can matter almost as much as features. It gives the buyer some reassurance that the motorcycle is designed for long-term use, not just a feature-led showroom impression.
The Super Splendor XTEC 2.0 is not a dramatic reinvention. That is probably the right approach. The Splendor name has always worked because of familiarity, efficiency and low operating cost. Hero’s challenge is to modernise that formula without making the motorcycle too expensive or complicated.
At Rs 86,500, the updated model sits in a zone where buyers will compare it with other 125cc options such as the Honda Shine 125, Bajaj Pulsar 125 and TVS Raider 125. Some rivals may offer a sportier image or more youthful positioning, but the Super Splendor XTEC 2.0 is aimed at buyers who want a dependable commuter with enough modern features to feel current.
