IPL 2026: Virat Kohli breaks many records with 9th IPL century

New Delhi, 15 May 2026: Virat Kohli broke many records In the 57th match of IPL 2026, Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) defeated Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) by 6 wickets. Virat Kohli was the hero of RCB’s victory, he scored 105 unbeaten runs. Kohli made many records with his century.

Kohli batted brilliantly, hitting 11 fours and three sixes at a strike rate of 175 in 60 ball innings. He and Devdutt Padikal made an important partnership of 92 runs in 59 balls for the second wicket. This was Kohli’s ninth IPL century. This was Virat’s second IPL century against KKR. Kohli has equaled Jos Buttler in scoring the most centuries against the same team in the league. Buttler has scored two centuries each against KKR and RCB.

Virat Kohli has become the joint most successful batsman in IPL run chase. This is his third century while chasing. Apart from Kohli, only Jos Buttler has achieved this feat. Kohli has now reached joint third place in the list of batsmen who have scored most centuries in T20 cricket. This was Kohli’s 10th century in T20 cricket. He is the highest run scoring batsman in IPL.

Virat Kohli also completed 14,000 T-20 runs in this innings. Kohli became the batsman to complete 14,000 runs in the shortest innings. He achieved this feat in his 409th inning. In this achievement, Virat left Chris Gayle behind. Gayle achieved this feat in his 423rd innings. Kohli was declared player of the match for his brilliant innings. Virat has now jointly become the first Indian player to win the Player of the Match award the most number of times in IPL. Kohli won the Player of the Match award for the 21st time. Along with Virat, Rohit Sharma has also won the Player of the Match award 21 times.
