Tezzbuzz Desk- Chief Minister Siddaramaiah finally resigned from his post amid the long-running power struggle in Karnataka politics. On Thursday, he reached Raj Bhavan and submitted his resignation to the Secretary to the Governor. After his resignation, while talking to the media, he said that he has followed the instructions of the Congress high command and the party’s decision is paramount for him.
Siddaramaiah said, “I did what the high command said. The Congress party has always respected me and I respect every decision of the party.” After his statement it became clear that the change of leadership has been done as per the strategy of the Congress high command.
For the last one year, there were continuous discussions going on in Karnataka Congress regarding change of leadership. The internal tussle between Deputy CM DK Shivakumar and Siddaramaiah supporters had also come to the fore several times. Although the party leadership continued to claim that everything is normal in the government, but now this sudden change has intensified the political stir.
According to sources, the Congress high command has taken this big decision keeping in mind the upcoming Lok Sabha elections and the political strategy of South India. It is believed that now DK Shivakumar will be made the new Chief Minister of Karnataka. Given his strong hold among the Congress organization and MLAs, the party leadership has expressed confidence in him.
After resignation, Siddaramaiah also counted the achievements of his tenure. He said that his government launched many important schemes for the poor, farmers, women and backward classes. He expressed confidence that the new government will also continue to work in the interest of the public.
On the other hand, there is an atmosphere of enthusiasm among the supporters of DK Shivakumar. In many districts including Bengaluru, Congress workers expressed happiness by distributing sweets. Many party leaders say that the Congress organization will become stronger under the leadership of Shivkumar.
However, the opposition has termed this entire incident as the result of internal strife in the Congress. BJP and JDS leaders said that Congress is embroiled in power struggle and this has affected the administration.
Now all eyes are on the Congress Legislature Party meeting, where the new leader will be formally selected. It is believed that DK Shivakumar can take oath as Chief Minister within the next 24 hours. This change in Karnataka politics can have a big impact on both state and national politics in the times to come.
