The Government of India is signing an agreement with the Central Project Implementation Unit (Education) under the Ministry of Education and Sports of Nepal, according to a statement issued by the Indian Embassy in Kathmandu on Wednesday. According to the agreement, 14 schools will be constructed in eight districts of Nepal with a grant of 56.2 million Nepalese rupees.
It is reported that the schools will be constructed in Gorkha, Nouakot, Dhading, Dolakha, Kathmandu, Kavrepalanchok, Rameshap and Sindhupalchok districts. These regions of Nepal have been the worst affected by the earthquakes of the past few years. Note that in 2015, the biggest earthquake in the history of Nepal occurred. About 9,000 people died.
According to sources, 14 schools built with financial assistance from India will have earthquake proof systems. Schools will have multiple classrooms with essential furniture, separate toilets for female and male students, etc. Note that this is not the first time, earlier in 2024, 70 schools were built in Nepal with the help of India’s post-earthquake relief aid, and the Tribhuvan University Central Library was also built.
