Record profit of RIL, yet Mukesh Ambani did not take even ₹ 1 salary; How to earn ₹4000 crore without salary?

Reliacne Chairman Mukesh Ambani Salary: The country’s most valuable company Reliance Industries (RIL) recorded the biggest ever annual profit in the financial year 2025-26. However, despite this, the company’s Chairman and Managing Director Mukesh Ambani did not take any salary. This is the sixth consecutive year when the head of Reliance has stuck to his decision, that is, Ambani has not taken any salary from the company for the sixth consecutive year.

According to the latest annual report of Reliance Industries (RIL Annual Report), from the financial year 2020-21 to the financial year 2025-26, Mukesh Ambani took neither salary, nor allowance, nor any facility, nor retirement benefit, nor commission nor any stock option from Reliance. According to the company, Ambani had decided to forgo his salary in June 2020 in view of the situation during the Covid pandemic. This decision was taken completely voluntarily and it was continued even after that.

Reliance Industries Limited in record profits

The special thing is that in the last financial year i.e. FY2026 Reliance Industries recorded its highest ever annual profit. The consolidated net profit of the company in the financial year 2025-26 was Rs 95,754 crore, which is 17.8 percent more than the financial year 2024-25. During this period, RIL recorded revenue of Rs 11.76 lakh crore, which was 10 per cent higher than FY25. Despite this, Mukesh Ambani remained firm on his decision of not taking salary. At the end of the year, the market capitalization of Reliance (RIL Market Cap) was Rs 18,19,103 crore ($ 191.8 billion).

However, Reliance profit has declined in the March quarter (Q4) of the financial year 2025-26. In the January-March quarter, its consolidated net profit declined by 13 percent on an annual basis and stood at Rs 16,971 crore. It was Rs 19,407 crore in the same quarter a year ago. At the same time, revenue from operations increased by 13 percent to Rs 2.98 lakh crore in the March 2026 quarter.

How much salary did Ambani take from the company earlier?

Let us tell you that even before Covid Mukesh Ambani He has been adopting a restrained approach regarding his salary. From financial year 2008-09, he had capped his total annual salary at Rs 15 crore. This limitation continued for 12 years despite huge growth in Reliance’s turnover and profits.

Ambani earns big money from dividends

Ambani does not take salary, hence dividend income seems to be the main source of income. According to the PTI report, Mukesh Ambani directly holds 1.61 crore shares of Reliance, which will give him a dividend income of Rs 9.66 crore based on the dividend of Rs 6 per share declared by the company for FY 2026.

The promoter group companies controlled by Ambani hold 664.5 crore shares (i.e. 50.07 percent), from which he will get a dividend income of Rs 3,987 crore.
