There will be changes in the ration card system

Ration System New Rules Explained: Recently, a meeting of the Union Cabinet was held under the chairmanship of PM Modi, in which many important topics were discussed and approved. A big decision has been taken in the cabinet meeting regarding the ration system, which will now see a big change. The Central Government has taken an important decision to make the Public Distribution System i.e. PDS better and more modern than ever before. For this, the government is going to start ‘Sarthak PDS Scheme’. In the meeting, approval of Rs 25,530 crore has been given for this scheme. This new initiative will directly benefit about 80 crore ration card holders of the country. According to Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnav, this new scheme will bring three main reforms in the ration system.

financial assistance to states

The central government will now give money to the state governments to transport grains. Till now, the states themselves had to bear the entire cost of transporting food grains from the warehouses of the Food Corporation of India (FCI) to the ration shops. Now the central government will share the burden of this expense.

Increase in earnings of ration shopkeepers

Increasing the commission of ration dealers is a commendable step by the government, which will provide them great relief from financial crisis. Ration shopkeepers were protesting for a long time demanding increase in commission and financial security. Accepting their legitimate demands, the government has worked to strengthen the Public Distribution System (PDS).
