Dispute over stopping illegal infiltration

According to reports, the Indian Border Security Force has intensified the work of installing barbed wire fencing and land acquisition to completely stop illegal infiltration on the adjacent borders of Uttar Pradesh and Bengal. Angered by this action, Bangladeshi miscreants and BGB soldiers pelted stones at Indian soldiers in Phansidewa in Siliguri and Mekhliganj in Cooch Behar (near Teen Bigha Corridor).

Bangladesh sticks to 150 yards rule

BGB is citing international border rules for this aggression. They claim that no permanent construction can be done within 150 yards of ‘no man’s land’ or the zero line. On the contrary, BSF is committed to complete the fencing work at sensitive patches affected by infiltration, keeping in mind the paramount importance of the country’s security and sovereignty.

Effort for peace through flag meeting

However, even after this stone pelting and face-to-face confrontation, senior BSF officers have taken charge on the border. A round of emergency flag meetings are going on between the sector commanders of the two countries so that the situation can be prevented from going out of control. Border Security Force personnel are protecting the border with full alertness and restraint.
