Signature scandal in TMC! Many MLAs expressed objection, CID is investigating
Tezzbuzz Desk – A new controversy has emerged in the politics of West Bengal. The matter is gaining momentum regarding alleged fake signatures of some Trinamool Congress (TMC) MLAs. After receiving the complaint, the State Criminal Investigation Department (CID) has now started investigation and many MLAs are being interrogated.
According to the information, questions have been raised regarding the signatures recorded on a proposal submitted in the Assembly Secretariat. Some MLAs claim that the signatures on the document are not theirs. On the basis of this complaint, a case was registered at Hare Street Police Station, after which CID took over the investigation.
As part of the investigation, the CID team along with handwriting experts reached the houses of many TMC MLAs. The team verified the signatures and also interrogated the concerned MLAs. The leaders who were interrogated include the names of MLA Nayana Banerjee, Kunal Ghosh, Baharul Islam and former minister Chandranath Sinha.
The controversy has arisen over the proposal through which information related to the selection of the leader of the opposition and other office bearers was sent to the Assembly. It is alleged that there are discrepancies in some of the signatures and dates recorded on the proposal. In particular, some MLAs have claimed that they were not present in the relevant meeting on the date on which their signatures were shown.
Canning East MLA Baharul Islam also told the investigating agencies that he was present in his constituency on the day of the meeting in question. He said that the matter is under investigation, so he does not want to comment much on it.
On the other hand, Trinamool Congress has completely rejected the allegations of fake signatures. Party leaders say that the opposition and some other forces are exaggerating the issue for political reasons. The party claims that all the processes were completed as per the rules.
Meanwhile, opposition parties have termed the matter as serious and demanded an impartial investigation. The CID is now examining the documents, signatures and records of related meetings. Only after the investigation is completed, it will be clear whether the alleged discrepancy in the signatures is merely a technical error or whether there is a bigger conspiracy hidden behind it.
