Major accident on Umaria-Anuppur border, tractor-trolley filled with devotees overturned, 4 people died painfully, many injured
A horrific road accident took place on the border of Umaria and Anuppur districts of Madhya Pradesh. Here a speeding tractor-trolley loaded with devotees lost control and overturned on a culvert, resulting in the tragic death of four people. 37 people have been seriously injured in this accident, including a large number of women and children. As soon as the tractor-trolley overturned, many people got buried under the culvert, due to which there was shouting and an atmosphere of chaos on the spot.
According to the information, the deceased in this heart-wrenching accident have been identified as Ghanshyam God, resident of Padmania, and Sahbal Baiga, resident of Ginjri. The other two deceased are still being identified. It is reported that two villagers died on the spot, while two others died during treatment in the hospital.
Local people told that villagers from Ginjiri village of Anuppur district along with their families had reached Umaria to offer prayers in the Tiwani forest. After the puja, all the villagers were returning back to their village Ginjiri in tractor-trolley. Meanwhile, the tractor-trolley suddenly went out of control on the culvert of Tivni village near Umaria-Anuppur border and overturned.
Tractor-trolley fell ten feet below the culvert
The accident was so severe that the tractor-trolley fell about ten feet below the culvert. The people traveling in the trolley fell on each other, due to which many people remained buried under the trolley. Seeing this scene, the people present at the spot were shocked and started screaming all around.
37 people injured in the accident
At the time of the accident, there were a total of forty-one people in the tractor-trolley, which included men, women and children. Thirty-seven people have been injured in this tragic incident. The injured were reported to be twenty-two men, fourteen women and five children. Many people have suffered serious injuries on head, hands and legs, due to which their condition remains critical.
Police and health department team reached the spot
As soon as information about the incident was received, Pali police station, administrative officer and health department team immediately reached the spot. With the help of local villagers, relief and rescue operations were started on war footing. The injured were taken out with great difficulty and they were provided immediate medical aid.
Injured were taken to hospital
The injured were taken to Pali Hospital with the help of 180 ambulances. Due to such a large number of patients arriving simultaneously in the hospital, a situation of chaos was created. The seriously injured people were immediately referred to the district hospital after first aid, where they are undergoing intensive treatment.
As soon as the news of the accident was received, a large number of family members and villagers reached the hospital. There was a crowd in the hospital premises till late evening and people looked anxious to know about the well-being of their family members. According to initial information, high speed and driver’s carelessness are considered to be the main reasons for this accident.
The bodies were sent for post-mortem
Pali police has taken the bodies of the deceased in their custody and sent them for postmortem. The tractor has also been confiscated after the accident. Police have registered the case and started a detailed investigation into the accident. Police are also investigating whether there were more people in the tractor-trolley than its capacity. Officials have given instructions for proper treatment of the injured.
