Supreme Court allows Vinesh Phogat to participate in trials for 2026 Asian Games

New Delhi, 29 May 2026: 2026 Asian Games trials Vinesh Phogat’s hopes of participating in the Asian Games have got a boost. The Supreme Court on Friday allowed him to participate in the trials for the 2026 Asian Games. This star female wrestler has become eligible to participate in the trials starting from May 30.

The Supreme Court said, “If he had been someone else, the case would have been different. He has brought honor to the country.” However, the Supreme Court had expressed great concern about the method and method of investigation. It was said that easy and prompt intervention by the courts in such cases is a problem.

“You are a brilliant athlete, but the country comes first,” the Supreme Court told Vinesh Phogat while hearing the petition filed by the WFI challenging the Delhi High Court’s decision to allow the wrestler to play.

During the hearing, PS Narasimha had orally remarked, “This is not an admission into a medical college. These are national and international sports competitions. It should not be the case that the court interferes in such matters and disrupts the entire program.”
